The \u201cEstablishing City-Wide LoRaWAN Network Coverage in Isfahan\u201d project was implemented by Behamad<\/a> to provide a communication infrastructure for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The project established a low-power, long-range communication infrastructure for smart urban devices, enabling the development of various smart city systems.<\/p>\n

With the growing use of connected devices and the need for reliable communication over long distances, LoRaWAN has become one of the key technologies in the Internet of Things. Accordingly, Behamad, in cooperation with Iran Telecommunications Company \u2013 Isfahan Province, designed and implemented network coverage across the city of Isfahan.<\/p>\n

As part of this project, several Gateways were installed and commissioned at different locations throughout the city, providing an infrastructure through which LoRaWAN-based devices could transmit their data to the central management system and enabling the development of various smart city applications.<\/p>\n

Customer Challenge or Need<\/h3>\n

With the expansion of Internet of Things technologies and the increasing number of connected smart devices, establishing a suitable communication infrastructure for connecting these devices to management systems has become an important infrastructure requirement. Many smart and IoT devices require a network that can provide reliable long-distance communication while maintaining low power consumption.<\/p>\n

LoRaWAN is one of the leading technologies in this field, enabling long-range communication with very low power consumption. However, utilizing this technology requires infrastructure equipment such as Gateways to be installed at various locations throughout the city so that devices can connect to the network.<\/p>\n

Since supplying and installing this equipment can be costly, the main challenge of the project was to establish adequate network coverage across the city using the minimum number of devices while achieving maximum efficiency, allowing various devices to maintain stable communication with the central system.<\/p>\n

Our Proposed Solution<\/h3>\n

Behamad Knowledge-Based Company analyzed the geographical conditions of the city and the communication requirements of IoT devices and designed and implemented a solution for establishing LoRaWAN network coverage across Isfahan. The solution was designed to provide maximum coverage with the minimum number of Gateways.<\/p>\n

Installation and Commissioning of LoRaWAN Gateways<\/h4>\n

As part of this project, five Indoor Gateway devices were installed and commissioned at suitable locations throughout the city. These Gateways receive signals transmitted by LoRaWAN-based devices and forward the data to the central management system.<\/p>\n

Designing City-Wide Communication Coverage<\/h4>\n

Gateway installation locations were selected based on network coverage range and the city’s environmental conditions to achieve the widest possible coverage. This design allowed a significant portion of Isfahan to be approximately covered by the network using a limited number of devices.<\/p>\n

Integration with the Central Management System<\/h4>\n

All data received from devices by the Gateways is transmitted to the central system through secure network protocols. The system provides capabilities for managing, monitoring, and analyzing data from connected devices.<\/p>\n

Registration and Management of LoRaWAN Devices<\/h4>\n

Any LoRaWAN-based device registered in Behamad’s management system can use the established infrastructure and transmit its data to the central system through the installed Gateways.<\/p>\n
